Overview

Wilson's Lebanese Restaurant, nestled in the heart of Redfern on Pitt Street, offers an honest and inviting taste of Lebanese cuisine. This family-owned spot is a notable gem for those seeking authentic home-style Middle Eastern flavors in a warm, comfortable setting. The restaurant’s atmosphere is cozy, charming, and unpretentious, making it a perfect fit for families, friends, and anyone eager to explore traditional Lebanese fare.

The menu is rich with classic dishes, showcasing both meat and vegetarian options that highlight the culinary heritage of Lebanon. The Mezza Plate stands out, an excellent introduction to the variety of textures and spices central to the cuisine. It pairs beautifully with freshly made Fattoush Salad, a crisp and tangy salad that adds a lively contrast to the richness of the grilled meat options. Speaking of which, the Shish Kebab and mixed grill plates are frequently praised for their generous portions and well-marinated cuts, prepared over an open flame for depth and smoky undertones.

For those leaning vegetarian or looking for lighter bites, the falafel and spicy butter beans resonate well. The falafel, crisp on the outside and tender inside, encapsulate the essence of Lebanese street food, while the spicy beans and okra cooked in tomato sauce bring hearty, comforting flavors to the table. The hand-cut chips and fries also deserve a mention—they offer a perfect balance of crispness and seasoning, clearly a favorite among visitors.

Desserts like Turkish Delight and Baklawa provide a sweet and aromatic finish, with traditional flavors executed in a way that complements the meal without overwhelming it. Arabic wine is another unique highlight. It pairs elegantly with the dishes, enhancing the overall tasting experience and transporting diners closer to Lebanon’s vibrant culinary culture.

The restaurant experience at Wilson's blends simplicity with authenticity. Service can occasionally be a bit elusive, but the attentive presence of the manager ensures orders are handled with care. Several customers have expressed how the place evokes nostalgia and a sense of home, many returning time after time for the comforting familiarity and solid cuisine.

In essence, Wilson’s Lebanese Restaurant serves more than just food; it delivers a connection to Lebanese heritage through its flavors, portions, and genuine hospitality. Whether you crave robust grilled meats or delightful vegetarian dishes, this Redfern spot offers a satisfying journey into Middle Eastern gastronomy that invites repeat visits and shared moments.

Great family restaurant, thank you chef for the amazing freshest fattoush salad and also the delicious mixed grill plate it filled up a hungry stomach. The Smokey baba ghanouj is the best I’ve ever tasted. This place feels like home. We will be back.

Very mixed feelings here. The restaurant is cosy and comfortable with a great menu. The execution of some of the dishes however, isn’t great. The tomato based dishes lack any spice or depth of flavour. The lamb was a workout to chew. The babaganoush had none of the promised smokey flavour, and the “labneh” was more like sour cream. However, the falafel were excellent, and the hand cut chips were addictive. They know their way around a fryer. The staff were incredibly difficult to track down. Even if you get a hold of one of the runners, it’s no good.. the manager is the only one who will take your order, and she’s hard to come by. Besides all of this, the restaurant is still a 4 star to me, it’s got a certain something that other Lebanese restaurants just lack. Worth a try.. if you do, order differently than I did.

We loved how authentic this restaurant is! What you see is what you get and it’s such a charming family owned business. We found all of the food to be delicious and serving sizes were more than enough for two people to share. The lamb for main was insane - so damn good !

This is the best meal we have had in Sydney. Authentic, tasty, simple, awesome value for money. A great setting in a nice neighbourhood. The staff were ace, helpful and just lovely. I had been gagging for a kebab and the choices in Sydney are not great, until you come here and have a shish kebab. So so tasty. Go on try this place out
